In 2006 NASA offers an international challenge to scientists and engineers to compete with materials to build a hub between Earth and outer space called the space elevator.

A team of aerospace scientists and technologists challenges global competitors, by designing a major component for the space elevator, a tether that will stretch 60,000 miles from Earth’s surface into space.

Thus far in history the Wright brothers gave birth to the age of flight; and JFK has even brought us to the moon. As humankind treks toward space exploration, Team Astroaraneae responds by creating the strongest rope in the world.
