96) Sūrat Al-`Alaq 96) سُورَة العَلَق
Aqra' Biāsmi Rabbika Al-Ladhī Khalaqa اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
Khalaqa Al-'Insāna Min `Alaqin خَلَقَ الإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَق ٍ
Aqra' Wa Rabbuka Al-'Akramu اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكْرَمُ
Al-Ladhī `Allama Bil-Qalami الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
`Allama Al-'Insāna Mā Lam Ya`lam عَلَّمَ الإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Kallā 'Inna Al-'Insāna Layaţghá كَلاَّ إِنَّ الإِنسَانَ لَيَطْغَى
'An Ra'āhu Astaghná أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى
'Inna 'Ilá Rabbika Ar-Ruj`á إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى
'Ara'ayta Al-Ladhī Yanhá أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى
`Abdāan 'Idhā Şallá عَبْدا ً إِذَا صَلَّى
'Ara'ayta 'In Kāna `Alá Al-Hudá أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى
'Aw 'Amara Bit-Taqwá أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى
'Ara'ayta 'In Kadhdhaba Wa Tawallá أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى
'Alam Ya`lam Bi'anna Allāha Yará أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى
Kallā La'in Lam Yantahi Lanasfa`ā Bin-Nāşiyahi كَلاَّ لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَه ِِ لَنَسْفَعَا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ
Nāşiyatin Kādhibatin Khāţi'ahin نَاصِيَة ٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَة ٍ
Falyad`u Nādiyah فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَه
Sanad`u Az-Zabāniyaha سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ
Kallā Lā Tuţi`hu Wa Asjud Wāqtarib كَلاَّ لاَ تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِب
96. Surah Al-Alaq (The Clot)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful 1. Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 2. Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 3. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 4. Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)], 5. Has taught man that which he knew not. 6. Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 7. Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 8. Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 9. Have you (O Muhammad ()) seen him (i.e. Ab� Jahl) who prevents, 10. A slave (Muhammad ()) when he prays? 11. Tell me, if he (Muhammad ()) is on the guidance (of All�h)? 12. Or enjoins piety? 13. Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Ab� Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Qur'�n), and turns away? 14. Knows he not that All�h does see (what he does)? 15. Nay! If he (Ab� Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 16. A lying, sinful forelock! 17. Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 18. We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 19. Nay! (O Muhammad ())! Do not obey him (Ab� Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to All�h!
